I'd love to hear your thoughts on this subject.
Or as my Indonesian wife says to her students when they get it wrong, "NYECK Wrong!" :-)
All Natural scents tend to last a lot shorter time than most frags laced or completely synthetic in origin. Better for the body? I suppose it's your frame of reference, But i would say Nyeck Wrong again.
I think Cacio has stated it all well....
I can't speak about M. C. Gentile's works, as I don't know them or the Perfumer. But I would say that there are indeed some perfumers who do make all natural perfumes, Mandy Aftel would be one. And there are a whole group of very fiercely fanatical perfumers who specialize in the all natural fumes. There's recently been a controversy about some materials sold in all natural perfumes that end up being laced with synths, but this isn't the fault of the perfumer, or maybe even THIER supplier, but maybe another supplier up the chain.
There are many Perfumers using All Materials available, blending the best naturals and Aromatics to get Perfumes. I call this Real Perfumery.
The Naturals palette is about say 600-800 materials to pick from. Opening up the palette to all materials expands the palette of the Perfumer to about 5000 materials to pick from.
And yes, my PK Perfumes usually range from 20% to as high as 50% naturals usage. And yes, the more naturals included, and the more really good naturals included, the higher it costs to make the perfume. Small Artisanal perfumers make the Artistic Choices to use really great materials, because we are Artists, and often not constrained by the costs of materials like other higher production products owned by larger corporations. We're making Art, and proud of our Art.
My opinion about selling an all natural perfume is that it is really selling a philosphy, more than selling a perfume.
