This is the official club for perfumistas who like to mix, blend, layer and experiemtn with 2,3 or more fragrances at the same time.
I try to stay with 2 fragrances in one wearing, but have on occasion mixed 3 fragrances at the same time in one wearing. The sky is the limit here really - it's up to you to do what you want. There is no fragrance police that will haunt you for doing this.
Sure you have some guys/gals that are against blending, mixing and layering fragrances. They feel the fragrance is made by a perfumer and that you have to pay respect to the fragrance and not alter with it by mixing it with other fragrances.
I just feel mixing and blending my fragrances is good fun, sometimes I get a crappy mix out of it, other times I get wonderfull stuff out of it.
I started mixing my fragrances in 2011 because I felt I knew some of my frags in my collection so well that I knew what i felt they lacked and I hoped I could find this extra by combining/mixing/blending the fragrance with another fragrance.
So far I have come up with some pretty amazing mixes that I wouldn't want to be without today.
There are several ways to blend, mix and layer fragrances.
In this case you simply layer 2 or more fragrances directly on top of each other.
I have tried this, but I don't like it and find it hard to control the proces.
Here you mix or blend 2 or more fragrances and together they create a scent cloud for you and the surroudings to enjoy.
I use mixing and blending all the time.
My experience is that I often blend fragrances in a certain way with an end goal in my mind.
An overall prupose with the mix.
First fragrance is a really potent strong one. I simply feel I can't wear this out in public. I only wear it alone, when I'm at home alone.
So I try and see if I can find a mix, that will tame the beast fragrance down a bit, but I will still be able to enjoy parts of the fragrance.
Nasomatto Black Afghano, Tom Ford Tuscan Leather, Nasomatto Duro, Montale Dark Aoud and Amouage Interlude are all examples of such potent and strong type of fragrances that I enjoy, but feel they are crazy potent to wear out in public (this coming from the originator of the Liberal Oversprayers Club thread)
I use these strong fragrances on my lower torso, from chest and down, maybe I'll use 2-3 sprays of these beastly fragrances - one to the mid chest and 2 below my chest.
Then I look for a less potent fragrance that I find would work well in a blend, use that fragrance on upper torso, from chest and up to neck level.
Both fragrances are wearable in public. But I feel mixing them would lift them up to a higher level or just give them an extra edge and dimension.
I tend to spary these 2 fragrance in roughly the same areas all over my body - sort of like in a body spray/cologne guy like manner. This is to get better longevity and just feel the power of the fragrance mix all over.
A blend I'm wearing right now is belonging to this category.
YSL Body Kouros and YSL Rive Gauche.
I applied 3 sprays RG to chest and 3 sprays RG to neck area.
The applied 5 sprays BK to chest and 4 sprays BK to neck area.
Right now I'm 5 hours in on this mix and I still project well and I expect longevity to be in the 10 hours mark, or even longer.
I use a lot of mixes, here I give you my favorites mixes:
